Data AI Search compared
Ahrefs and Semrush are SEO suites that added AI visibility tracking. An agency sells you hours. Data AI Search is a self-service data platform built for one job: planning how your brand gets into AI answers — which questions to answer, which topics to own, which sources to be cited by, and which brands you get named next to.
We build Data AI Search, so read this with that in mind. Every fact about other tools comes from their own pricing and documentation pages, listed at the bottom; prices change, so check them before you buy.
Data AI Search vs Ahrefs
Ahrefs has the deeper backlink and keyword data. Brand Radar tracks AI answers as an add-on from $199 a month. Data AI Search starts free and plans what to publish from real questions in Southeast Asia.

Semrush is the broader marketing suite; its AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 a month per domain. Data AI Search is AI-search only, starts free, and its MCP tools can act on your brand, not just read it.

An agency writes and runs the work for a monthly retainer. Data AI Search gives your team the same research data self-service — or both, when an agency uses it to plan.

A distribution strategy for AI search
Tracking tells you where you stand. A distribution strategy tells you what to publish, where, and why AI should pick it up. Data AI Search is built around these questions.
Which questions do people ask AI in your category?
- Brand Insights collects the real questions people ask about your brand's category, in your market and the language people actually use, and refreshes them weekly on paid plans. Each question is a page, FAQ or post you can answer.
Which topics and keywords are open?
- The same research groups questions into topics and keywords, so you can see where demand is and where no brand answers well yet — the gap a new page can fill.
Which sources does AI cite?
- The AI Visibility Audit asks AI engines your buyers' questions and records which pages and domains they cite. That list is your distribution plan: your own site, and the third-party sources worth being on.
Which brands does AI name next to you?
- Audits show competitor share and the brands that appear alongside yours, and Brand Insights shows which brands AI names in your category and for each customer segment — the relationships AI uses to decide who to recommend.
Questions about these comparisons
Is Data AI Search a replacement for Ahrefs or Semrush?
Not for classic SEO. If you need a backlink index or a global keyword database, keep Ahrefs or Semrush. Data AI Search replaces the AI search part: the questions, topics, citations and brand relationships that decide whether AI recommends you, especially in Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
Which AI engines does Data AI Search check?
Audits run on Gemini on the Free plan, Gemini and DeepSeek on Starter and Pro, and add Claude on Enterprise. ChatGPT and Perplexity are coming soon. Ahrefs and Semrush track ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity today, which is a real difference if those engines matter most to you.
Why do these pages show competitor prices?
Because price is the first thing people compare. Every price comes from the competitor's own pricing page on the date shown, with the link in the sources list. If a number has changed, tell us and we will update the page.
Can I use Data AI Search together with an agency or an SEO suite?
Yes, and many teams should. An SEO suite covers backlinks and rankings, an agency covers execution, and Data AI Search covers what AI search needs: which questions to answer and where AI looks for answers.
